Frustration, frustration!.
He doesn’t remember why:
- why he can’t be trusted
- why he is so confused
- why he shouldn’t be doing what he wants to do
That leaves me with anxiety, anxiety!
- I don’t like being the “police”
- I want to trust you
- I don’t like drama
I like the two voices at play in this piece and that we get to hear what each one has to say. I also like the repetition for each one, the “Why” and the “I”. A few lines here, but so much communicated.

There are so many “he”s who don’t understand (or try to?) that they may have caused trust to deteriorate, shall we say. Lots of truth and weight in these lines – very effective.

These lines can apply to so many situations; dealing with a defiant teen or elderly parent with dementia come to mind. Universal experience that we all can relate to, for sure.
