Communication

March 2

My siblings said they always knew I wa going to be a teacher because I loved to talk! Even if no one was listening, I talked. One of my earliest memories is of me standing in front of the closed closet door, reciting nursery rhymes to everyone, no one! That dramatic flair could have led me to be an actress. But I digress…

Yes, I understand the giving part of communication. Now I am focusing on the listening part of communication. My OLW#18 is Listen. When I can hear what another person is saying, there is the opportunity for growth, for change, for communication. So as I share my thoughts today, I read and enjoy yours. This is inspiration!

  1. Listen is a great OLW. It reminds me of a saying in a classroom I visited years ago: “A wise old owl sat on an oak, the more he saw the less he spoke, the less he spoke the more he heard, why can’t we all be like that wise old bird?”

  4. I too think Listen is an excellent choice. Viewing this OLW as an opportunity for growth is so simple yet so wise. Sounds like you were meant to be a teacher. Thanks for sharing this!
